The everyday stresses of life—as well as the effects of age, gravity, and exposure to sunlight—take a toll on a person’s face. If the brow or forehead muscles droop, the face may look sad, tired, or even angry. Mayo Clinic-trained, board-certified Nashville plastic surgeon Chad Robbins, M.D., F.A.C.S., understands that these unwelcome changes can harm an individual’s confidence. A brow lift (also called a forehead lift) can alleviate many of these symptoms.
What is a Brow Lift?
Over time, stress and exposure to the elements create age lines. Your forehead is one of the first places affected. A brow lift uses specialized incisions to smooth the forehead. It also repositions the brow over the orbital rim so that they are in the correct position again. Drooping of brow can cause excess skin to upper eyes. So, by bringing up the brow this can help improve the excess skin. The tissues and muscles responsible for drooping, creases and lines are altered to erase years of worry and restore a youthful, energetic appearance.
Benefits of a Brow Lift
Patients who have undergone a brow lift surgery experience an improvement in their self-esteem and confidence. Signs of stress are reduced, and patients feel more youthful and energetic. As a brow lift is less invasive than a full facelift, patients may have a shorter recovery period.

Results of Brow Lift Plastic Surgery
A brow lift can help restore youth and vibrancy to a person’s face. Natural-looking results virtually undo the unwanted effects of time. Nashville brow lift surgeon Dr. Chad Robbins accomplishes these effects by removing and tightening muscles and other tissues that cause skin to droop. With an enhanced physical appearance, patients usually notice a boost in self-confidence after surgery.
Individual Goals
Each brow lift is an individualized procedure. During the initial consultation, Dr. Robbins discusses each patient’s goals realistically. Since brow (forehead) lifts are often performed in conjunction with other facial surgeries, such as facelift or blepharoplasty, the patient along with the doctor will decide which procedures Dr. Robbins will perform in order to achieve the desired results. Once a date for surgery is set, Dr. Robbins and his staff give the patient instructions on how to prepare.
Brow Lift Procedure Details
Dr. Robbins performs brow lift surgery with the patient under general anesthesia. Because each person’s face is different, each procedure requires a customized approach. Dr. Robbins either uses the classic method or the endoscopic method to tighten the brow. Both procedures involve inconspicuous incisions in the hairline. Through these incisions, Dr. Robbins tightens the brow skin and removes any excess tissue that causes drooping. He then resets the brow line so it can heal.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is a mild, minimally invasive type of brow lift best suited for younger patients requiring minor adjustments to the forehead. Using a few incisions and a pen-sized camera, Dr. Robbins addresses overactive muscles depending on individual forehead laxity. Because this is less invasive than typical surgeries, patients may have a shorter recovery period.
Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Brow lifts are cosmetic procedures mainly for patients ages 40 to 60. Patients younger or older may be eligible based on the doctor’s consultation. Patients with inherited conditions are also candidates for this type of surgery. Balding patients or those who have undergone previous procedures should not be concerned about scarring. Dr. Robbins will determine the best location for any incisions or may choose a less invasive procedure to create the desired result.
How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?
Cost for a brow lift will depend on the extent of the surgery as well as the number of treatments required to achieve the desired result. Most insurance plans do not cover plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures. Financing is offered via CareCredit® and Prosper Healthcare Lending.
