What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is a procedure similar to a facelift. Incisions are hidden behind the ears, and the muscle and fat are separated. Excess skin and fat are removed from the neck, allowing Dr. Robbins to enhance the natural contours of the patient’s neck. The result is a tighter, more youthful appearance.

Benefits of a Neck Lift

Many patients have had a neck lift surgery and are very happy with the results. A softer appearance that is more youthful is common, as well as a reduction in wrinkles and rope-like muscles around the neck. Loose muscles and skin are tightened for a more defined jawline. Patients generally experience greater confidence and self-image.

Desired Results of Neck Lift Plastic Surgery

Neck lift patients desire to correct typical signs of aging. This includes excess skin, flabby muscles, and fat deposits in the neck area. It is not intended to affect the brow, eyelids, cheeks, or other areas of the face. Patients often feel a sense of youthful vigor and improved self-esteem after the procedure.

Each neck lift is an individualized procedure. In the initial consultation, Dr. Robbins discusses each patient’s goals realistically. Since neck lifts are often performed in conjunction with other facial surgeries, the patient and Dr. Robbins together decide which procedures he will perform in order to achieve the desired results. Once a date for surgery is set, Dr. Robbins and his staff will give instructions on how to prepare.

Neck Lift Procedure Details

Neck lift procedures may last several hours. If the neck lift is scheduled in conjunction with another procedure, the procedure will take longer. Dr. Robbins may make small incisions around the ear and hairline. Additional incisions may be made at the chin. For some surgeries, Dr. Robbins may only work on one side of the face at a time, in other surgeries he may work on both sides of the face.

Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Men and women of Nashville may be good candidates for neck lift surgery if they have noticed sagging in the neck, but the skin still retains good elasticity. It is recommended for patients aged 40 to 60 years, but can be utilized for older patients as well. If you are looking to highlight the proportions of your neck and face as well as seeking a younger appearance, a neck lift may be the right procedure for you.
