What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery performed in order to reduce the amount of fat under the skin. This surgery is typically performed on the stomach and abdominal area, although it can be performed in other locations.

How is Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction is performed much like any other surgery. The doctor will make a series of small incisions around the target area, after which a tool called a cannula is inserted. The cannula acts much like a vacuum, suctioning out the excess fat from around the target area.
Liposuction is often performed as an outpatient procedure. Depending on the individual case, you may be given a general anesthesia which could require overnight recovery. In other cases, local anesthesia is used, allowing you to return home to recover the same day. The length of the procedure varies but is based largely on the amount of fat that has to be removed.
