Chad Robbins, M.D., F.A.C.S., and his staff at Robbins Plastic Surgery perform various plastic surgery procedures, including tummy tucks, for Brentwood, TN, residents.
What is a Tummy Tuck?
The technical term for a tummy tuck is abdominoplasty. This surgery tightens the abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat in the belly area to create a flatter, smoother look.
Benefits of a Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck doesn’t just improve a person’s physical appearance – it has added medical benefits as well, such as repairing distended stomach muscles. The benefits include:
- No more hard-to-lose belly fat
- Removal of extra skin
- A contoured body shape
- A more youthful appearance
- Improved posture
- Strengthened abdominal muscles
How are Tummy Tucks Performed?
With a typical tummy tuck, we’ll put you under general anesthesia before the procedure begins. We create an incision low on the abdomen from one hipbone to the other. At this point, we remove excess skin and contour the tissue and muscles for the entire abdominal area.
For patients who only want fat excised from the lower belly, a partial tummy tuck is also an option.
